Land Manager Crop Reports From Around Nebraska

Randy Oertwich, UFARM Land Manager in the Northeast portion of Nebraska shares photos of corn that had been in the ground one week, corn planted April 24th,and corn planted May 9th. Many harvest crews are headed through Nebraska to Texas to start wheat harvest.

Observations from this area: Corn planting 85% done. Bean planting nearing 50%. Producers have had limited days to do field work. Many corn fields have been planted but rain has delayed herbicide and fertilizer applications. In many cases producers have needed to change their herbicide program as corn was emerging prior to application. Soybeans are emerging planted May 10th.

Mike Waller, UFARM Land Manager in South Central Nebraska shares this update: The corn is currently in the 3 to 5 leaf stage of growth. Rainfall amounts over the last 7 to 10 days in this area have been between 3 to 5 inches. What the corn and beans really need is some warm weather and sun!!
